Planning application fees have been announced by the government short notice to increase 20% from this Wednesday 17 January. It is several years since the last hike and the justification local planning authorities made for this latest one is essentially to pay for extra staff and handle applications quicker. We will see in due course!

Planning approval in principle (PIP) for new housing is to be available from June say the Government once regulations are issued. So approval for a red edged area on a basic location plan could be requested to erect a specified number of dwellings. Then technical details would need to be approved within 3 years, so it appears. Watch this space!
